Rev. Jeremiah Wright
Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. is the former pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) in Chicago. He retired earlier this year and is being scrutinized for segments of his sermon that were in connection with presidential candidate Barck Obama. Some say these statements where Anti-American while others believe he was just voicing his opinion and emotional frustration. Is he wrong for making these statements?

I saw some clips of the videos showing parts of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's speech. I didn't care to sit through much more of it. While much of what he said MIGHT be true (His sources all seemed to be hearsay), he was not representing the Kingdom of God when he spoke a curse over America. As a matter of fact, he seemed to forget that he lives here too. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God told His people to "...seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace." (Jeremiah 29:7) And, the children of God aren't even supposed to curse their enemies let alone curse the country of their birth. I wonder if his congregation is encouraged to obey the Word of God that commands us to pray for world leaders.
I don't like alot of America's past either, but America is where God has us for such a time as this. And besides, vengeance for any wrong doing belongs to the LORD. Let's let God be God and let us be about seeking His will and obeying His Word (especially to "...bless...and pray for those who spitefully use" us.
